To help raise awareness about the importance of safeguarding data, Cyvatar has partnered with Curricula for a webinar on Jan. 28, 2021, broadcasting live at 1 p.m. EST. Click here to register now.
Data Privacy Day is a global effort taking place annually on January 28th that generates awareness about the importance of privacy. This year, we’ve teamed up with the National Cybersecurity Alliance and Curricula to help encourage businesses to “Respect Privacy” advocating for holding organizations responsible for keeping individuals’ personal information safe from unauthorized access and ensuring fair, relevant and legitimate data collection and processing.
As a Data Privacy Champion, our team at Cyvatar recognizes how we all share the responsibility to safeguard the data entrusted to our various organizations. This year’s initiative emphasizes cultivating trust among consumers by adopting data privacy frameworks and promoting transparency around data collection practices.
According to a Pew Research Center study, 79% of U.S. adults report being concerned about the way their data is being used by companies. As technology evolves and the pandemic continues to influence how consumers interact with businesses online, data collection practices are becoming increasingly unavoidable, making it imperative that companies act responsibly.
“In recent years, we’ve seen the impact of more global awareness surrounding the abuse of consumer data, thanks to sweeping privacy measures like GDPR and CPRA,” said Kelvin Coleman, Executive Director, NCSA. “And while legislative backing is key to reinforcing accountability for poor data privacy practices, one major goal of Data Privacy Day is to build awareness among businesses about the benefits of an ethical approach to data privacy measures separate from legal boundaries.”
Whether it’s privacy or security, data is at the heart of everything you do. Human beings are sociable and need relationships with others to survive. Social media usage has become a daily ritual for many; keeping in touch with loved ones, sharing personal news, and now making consumer purchases directly in apps like Facebook and Instagram from ads that are targeted directly to our personal interests. Whether we like to think about it or not, our personal data is misused and being resold to advertisers every second.
Register now for our webinar on Jan. 28, broadcasting live at 1 p.m. EST, where our panelists will discuss how the power of privacy and our networks can have a positive or negative effect. Our panelists will include:
“Whether it’s privacy or security, data is at the heart of it,” Craig said. He and his panelists will dive into more of how to not ‘Zuck’ by putting data at the heart of privacy and compliance.
